Hi, I’m Skylar Mae. I’m born and raised on Vancouver Island, a settler on the land of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ nations. I am indigenous (Cree from Stanley Mission), west Indian (Trinidad and Tobago) and German. I love fashion and creating art in different mediums.

In early 2022, Skys Dream Realm was created. It all started with fuse beads and a few commissions. I have always loved making art and I knew I wanted to work with my hands. Pottery and nail art really inspired me when I was young, but I never really had the desire to go those routes. When I started making jewelry, it all started making sense. It was something I never thought of doing, and I'm so glad I started it.

When I would buy jewelry, especially chokers, I was always let down because they were too small for me. As a plus sized person, just finding clothes that fit is so hard, adding jewelry onto that list felt so upsetting! It made me feel like I was not even thought about in any way. Everything I make size inclusive. Big or small we have it all. I know how to feels to not even be a second thought, and I think everyone should be able to rock things that make them feel good and confident.

I started becoming more interested in crystals and minerals as my business started progressing. I always used semi-precious beads and stone pendants. I even wire wrapped them but I had no knowledge about what they were, how they can be used spiritually or the science behind them. I started researching and learning about them. I was obsessed. I ended up finding out about how people in the market scam crystal lovers, sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally. I wanted to join the market, sell crystals that have been in my hands so I know that they are legit. I wanted to sell reliable and fairly priced crystals, and I’m glad I’m able to now.

I thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting my business or even just checking me out! It means so much to me to have such a supportive community backing me up in these past couple years. To all who have bought from me at markets and events, thank you for helping me get to this point. I’m so excited to shift my business onto the online space and hope to find my place here.
